Plenty of people walk past the door twice before their first class, wondering if they've made a mistake. Then they come in, someone shows them where to put their shoes, and the 6pm fundamentals class does the rest. Months later, they're the ones welcoming the new faces.

Couldn’t recommend any more highly! I joined as a complete novice to BJJ, hoping to learn some skills and gain fitness and instead gained a family and great community. It’s so inclusive and the coaches really go out of their way to help you, guide you and provide excellent lessons. A full weekly time table of classes ranging across all ages, abilities and gi and no gi. Reiss has created a one of a kind space here and offers so much support and guidance. If you want to progress in BJJ whilst also enjoying the experience, NSBJJ is a no brainier!
The cubs class is exceptionally ran! My son is really enjoying Jujitsu, and has learnt so much in such a short space of time, and that's all down to the staff (teachers).
This is a club for all, big and small🥋
I can't ask for a better gym to train at. Transferred here last year September and I got welcomed to a wonderful gym. Everyone is so warm and respectful and absolutely great to roll with. High level, skilled individuals and all aligned to honing their craft.

I've never trained. Can I start?
Yes. Our beginners' classes are made for complete beginners. You'll warm up as a group, learn the technique of the day, and spar at the end when you're ready: in week one if you like, or watch and sit out if you're not. Nobody is ever forced to do anything they don't want to.
How does the £20 trial month work?
You get a full month of unlimited adult classes for £20. Book your £20 month here, then book your classes in the Gymdesk app. After your 30-day trial, membership continues automatically through Gymdesk at £70 a month (2 classes a week), unless you cancel before it ends.
Will I get hurt?
You spar when you're ready, not before: in week one if you like, or watch and sit out if you're not. Tap, and it stops. Our coaches keep beginners' classes controlled and safe, and everyone looks after their training partners.
Am I too old?
Almost certainly not. Coach Reiss started at 25 with no sports background, and both of his world titles came in the Masters divisions, for athletes over 30. You train at your own pace, rest whenever you need to and spar only when you're ready. [Placeholder: members who started in their 40s or later, with permission]
What should I wear?
Most of our classes are in the gi. For your first week we lend you one; after that, a loaner is £10 a class, or get your own. You can add an NSBJJ gi when you sign up and we'll fit you in person. Wear a t-shirt or rash guard under the gi and bring a water bottle. Kids can come to their free class in comfy sportswear.
What ages are the kids' classes?
Cubs are 4–7 and Juniors are 8–12. Your child's first class is free: book it online. After that, kids start our 4-month Intro Programme (gi included): £100 for the first month then £75 a month, or £300 paid in full, with 20% off for each brother or sister.
Is BJJ OK for women?
Absolutely. Women train in every class on the timetable, from beginners' sessions to advanced.
Do I need to book classes?
Yes, through the Gymdesk app or the online timetable. If a class is full, join the waiting list and you'll be told if a space opens up.
